Acumon audits organisations with UK turnover from £1m to £500m across the UK, Jersey and the Isle of Man. Whether you need a first-year statutory audit, a group audit for an international parent or an FRC-supervised Public Interest Entity audit, you get senior-led teams, a secure digital audit portal and a transparent fixed fee — so you know exactly what will happen, who is doing it and when it will be signed.

Do You Still Need an Audit? The 2025 Threshold Change

For financial years beginning on or after 6 April 2025, the small company thresholds rose by roughly 50%: a company now qualifies as small — and is normally exempt from statutory audit — if it meets two of three limits for two consecutive years: turnover of £15m or less, a balance sheet total of £7.5m or less, and 50 or fewer employees (up from £10.2m and £5.1m).

The exemption is not automatic. Public companies, most FCA-regulated entities and members of ineligible groups still require an audit regardless of size, and shareholders holding 10% or more can demand one. Many companies that could now claim exemption choose a voluntary audit because lenders, investors, customers and overseas parents rely on audited figures. We will tell you plainly which side of the line you fall on — and whether an audit still earns its keep for you.

Regulatory Authorisations

Acumon holds four authorisations: ICAEW-Registered Audit Practice (UK audits), FRC Authorisation (Public Interest Entity audits), Jersey Recognised Auditor status, and Isle of Man Recognised Auditor status. We are overseen by three bodies — the ICAEW, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), and the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an exempt professional firm.

Our Registered Audit Capabilities

Full regulatory compliance as an ICAEW registered firm, FRC-authorised for PIE audits, serving organisations with £1m-£500m UK turnover. Expertise covers PLCs, limited companies, partnerships, LLPs and charities, with cross-jurisdictional services for Jersey and the Isle of Man and UK subsidiary audits for international groups.

Regulatory Framework Compliance

We work across the full UK reporting framework: Companies Act 2006; Financial Reporting Standards (FRS 102, FRS 102 Section 1A, FRS 103, FRS 104, FRS 105); International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS, FRS 101); the Charities SORP; International Standards on Auditing (UK) including ISA 315, 600, 700 and 800; SOC 1 and SOC 2 reporting; International Standards of Quality Management (ISQM 1 and 2); and offshore regulatory requirements for Jersey and the Isle of Man. Our quality management system is underpinned by internal reviews, external inspections and continuous professional development.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my company need a statutory audit?
For financial years beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company is normally audit-exempt if it qualifies as small — meeting two of three limits for two consecutive years: turnover of £15m or less, balance sheet total of £7.5m or less, and 50 or fewer employees. Public companies, most FCA-regulated entities and members of ineligible groups need an audit regardless of size, and shareholders holding 10% or more can require one. We can confirm your position quickly and without obligation.
What is an ICAEW registered audit firm?
An ICAEW registered audit firm is an accountancy practice registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to conduct statutory audits. Registration ensures strict professional standards and compliance with UK legislation. Acumon is authorised across the UK, Jersey and the Isle of Man.
What types of audits does Acumon provide?
Statutory audits, PIE audits, CASS audits, charity audits, group audits, SRA Accounts Rules reports, pension scheme audits and grant audits for organisations with £1m-£500m UK turnover — covering PLCs, private companies, partnerships, LLPs, charities and international group subsidiaries.
How long does an audit typically take?
Small-to-medium companies: typically 4-8 weeks from planning to sign-off. Larger or more complex audits, including PIE audits: 8-12+ weeks. Our digital portal and Inflo analytics compress the timetable and reduce the demands on your finance team.
What is a PIE audit and do I need one?
A PIE audit is required for Public Interest Entities — listed companies, banks, insurers and other entities specified by the FRC — and can only be performed by an FRC-authorised firm. Acumon holds FRC authorisation and can help determine whether your organisation qualifies.
What should I prepare for an audit?
Up-to-date accounting records, bank statements, invoices, contracts and payroll, plus reconciled control accounts. We issue a tailored document request through our portal at planning, so you gather everything once rather than answering ad hoc email requests.
How much does an audit cost?
Fees depend on size, complexity, transaction volume and any regulatory add-ons (group reporting, CASS, SRA). We quote a transparent fixed fee up front so there are no surprises at completion.
Can Acumon audit companies in Jersey and the Isle of Man?
Yes. Our Jersey Recognised Auditor and Isle of Man Recognised Auditor status enables coordinated multi-jurisdictional audits for international groups, alongside UK statutory audits.
